New products in Hammer Strength Olympic Heavy-Duty line give facilities full array of heavy-duty rack training options

SCHILLER PARK, Ill. – Sept. 29, 2005 – Life Fitness, the leading manufacturer of commercial cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, today expanded its Hammer Strength Olympic Heavy-Duty product line. The new OHD Combo Rack, platform, inserts and reverse technique trays join the rest of the company’s Olympic Heavy-Duty line to meet facilities’ needs with a comprehensive selection of heavy-duty rack training options. Like all Hammer Strength products, the new heavy-duty rack products boast premium durability, functionality and ease of use, enabling facilities to provide optimal team training for enhanced sports performance.

The new OHD Combo Rack gives facilities training variety and space efficiency. It has training stations on each side so two athletes can train simultaneously, 10 standard weight horns for plate storage, two Olympic bar storage tubes and non-slip spotter stands. The unit also has two Dock ‘N Lock stations that allow users to secure optional adjustable benches in the proper position.

“Facilities are implementing power racks so they can allow groups of athletes to train at one station for a significant portion of their workout sessions,” said Greg Highsmith, senior director, strength product management, Life Fitness. “The Hammer Strength Olympic Heavy-Duty Combo Rack can accommodate twice as many users on one rack as a traditional power rack, thereby reducing the floor space facilities need to train two athletes at the same time.”

The Hammer Strength Olympic Heavy-Duty series also now includes a 6-foot-by-8-foot Olympic lifting platform and four oak inserts. The Olympic lifting platform features a finished oak surface, rubber impact mats, and a wrap-around sheet metal frame that protects the side and edges of the platform.  A heavy-duty interlocking tongue-and-groove system securely connects the platform components. The platform can be used to define a specific area for completing a variety of Olympic lifts and training exercises, either as a stand-alone unit or in conjunction with a wood insert and rack.

The four new oak inserts come in three sizes – short, medium and long. Three of the inserts may be combined with the new Olympic lifting platform and a Life Fitness Olympic Heavy-Duty rack; the fourth insert can be used with a Life Fitness rack when a platform is not required.

“Combining an Olympic Heavy-Duty rack with a platform and insert helps keep the facility’s other exercisers from inadvertently encroaching on the users’ workout space,” said Highsmith. “The platforms and inserts also provide a surface to ensure solid footing, absorb impact to protect the floor from damage and reduce stress on the user’s joints and back.”

Rounding out the new Olympic Heavy-Duty products are the Reverse Technique Trays. These let users of Hammer Strength Power Racks and Multi-Racks train outside the cage and make it easy for athletes to place heavy weights onto a bar and easily lift and lower the load without risking injury.

All of the new Hammer Strength Olympic Heavy-Duty rack products will be available in October and will include a 10-year limited warranty on the structural frame (coatings excluded) and 90 days on upholstery and any items not specified. Platforms and inserts have a one-year warranty on structural foundation and frame (excluding surface finish) and 90 days on the rubber mats, hardware and items not specified.  For more information, facilities may contact Life Fitness at 800-634-8637 or visit www.lifefitness.com.
